About Bud

Bud's focus these days is doing meaningful work that energizes him while serving others, through writing, music, facilitation, and coaching, in addition to his business consulting through HealthTech Solutions, an HMA Company.
Bud has spent much of his career helping people and organizations make sense of complicated change. Coaching is where that work continues now: slowing down, asking better questions, and helping people find the next meaningful step.
Professional background
Bud founded Solarity in 2003, working in organizational strategy, project and portfolio leadership, process improvement, facilitation, and adult learning with an amazing team of people and clients. Solarity was acquired by HealthTech Solutions, and now that work continues as part of HealthTech Solutions, an HMA Company.
That work shaped how he thinks about systems, change, leadership, and the way people and organizations move through transitions: threads that show up in coaching too.
Bud's coaching is individual, not organizational. Broader business consulting for organizations runs through HealthTech Solutions, an HMA Company, not through Plan & Adapt.
Why coaching
Years of organizational work taught Bud that the best leaders rarely win by having the best answer; they win by asking a better question, and by helping other people develop their own judgment. Coaching is that same conviction, applied one conversation at a time, whether the conversation is about a team or about a life.
How I work
Sessions move at the pace of real thinking, not a script. Bud asks real questions and listens for what's underneath the surface one: the pattern, the assumption, the thing that hasn't been said yet. The goal is always clearer thinking and a real next step, not a framework to memorize.
The whole person
Outside of coaching, Bud writes: poems and reflections that sit with memory, faith, doubt, and place; and plays music with Sarah, as Sarah & Bud and Sarah & the Buds. He's rooted in the Midway, Kentucky area, where in-person coaching sessions happen too.
None of that is separate from the coaching: the same attention that goes into a poem or a song goes into listening to a client.
